The Ghent-based start-up, which identifies employees’ skills based on the tools they use on a daily basis, is set to become a key component of SAP SuccessFactors.
SAP announced on 6 October an agreement to acquire TechWolf, a company founded in Ghent, Belgium, and also presents in London, New York and San Francisco. The amount was not disclosed; the finalisation is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to the green light of the authorities.
A "context graph" of work
TechWolf does not rely on CVs or self-assessments: its platform infers skills from systems where work is actually done, and links them to three levels — the tasks, skills of each employee and labour market data. Groups like HSBC, PayPal, Booking.com or AMD already use it, and its open templates have been downloaded more than two million times.
SAP wants to use it to feed workforce planning and reorganizations into SuccessFactors, and to give its assistant Joule a factual basis in HR scenarios. TechWolf will continue to be led by its co-founder Andreas De Neve and will continue to serve customers who do not use SAP.
