SignSplit raises $400 million to pay those whose data trains AI

Valued at one billion from the outset, the company aims to have data, voice recordings and images ‘signed off’ by their creators, and to pay them each time they are used, based on a specific model.

Founded discreetly in 2024, SignSplit came out of the shadows with $400 million contributed by W Group, a group of eleven financial technology companies specializing in blockchain. The operation values it at one billion dollars from the outset. Its bet: the next generation of models and robots will need high-quality human data, whose origin and conditions of use are clear, rather than content sucked up from the Web without traceability.

Sign your data, share value

The platform allows anyone to digitally sign a dataset, their image, their voice or a work, in order to attest to their consent and set the conditions under which a model can use it. Contributors can also contribute their data to thematic "pools" made available to developers; their remuneration then depends on the frequency of use. Companies can create their own pools by describing the data or skills sought, and research pools are planned for universities and life sciences companies.

Finally, a verification service makes it possible to know if a content or an appearance is signed, and under what conditions. CEO Alessandro Monterosso presents the system as a bridge between human contribution and AI; W Group announces additional resources for rapid global deployment.
