Second edition of the People-First AI Fund: grants with no imposed appropriation, and no obligation to use OpenAI products, for associations in 35 states.
The OpenAI Foundation has designated the 163 non-profit organizations that will share $50 million as part of the 2026 edition of its People-First AI Fund. Based in 35 states and Washington, they operate in both rural and urban areas. This is the second round of this amount, after the one launched in 2025, and most of the winners are new.
The funds are disbursed without earmarking: each association decides how to explore AI, and the foundation insists on the fact that the program is neutral with regard to the tools, with the beneficiaries remaining free to use or not OpenAI's products. Three priorities have been selected this year: support services (legal aid, housing, food, disability), local artistic and cultural structures, and local journalism. The complete list of winners has been published in alphabetical order.
