Temporal Raises $550 Million at $12.55 Billion in Valuation: AI Agents Need Execution That Doesn't Crash

The "sustainable execution" specialist, used by OpenAI, Snap and Nvidia, saw its annualized revenue exceed $250 million, up more than 200% year-on-year.

Temporal Technologies has closed a $550 million Series E at a valuation of $12.55 billion. The round is led by Lightspeed, with Wellington Management, the Growth Equity arm of Goldman Sachs Alternatives and Tiger Global as co-lead managers; a16z, Sequoia, Index Ventures, GIC, Sapphire Ventures and Amplify are putting money back into the pot.

Workflows that last for days

Timetime's open source platform allows a program to maintain its state and resume automatically after an outage, even when it has to wait several days for external validation. This need has become central with AI agents, who perform tasks over long periods of time and cannot start all over again at the slightest network incident. Snap sends 414 million Stories per day to it; at OpenAI, usage has increased 60-fold in one year.

The indicators follow: more than $250 million in annualized revenue, net retention of more than 200% since February, 1,900 billion shares processed on Temporal Cloud in August (+350% year-on-year), more than 43 million open source installations and 4,300 paying customers. The funds will be used for international expansion and to strengthen reliability and security for large accounts.
