MAHA Summit: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. presents AI as a counterbalance to doctors and experts

The Health Minister claims that AI will provide a second opinion that is ‘better informed than any doctor’ and may contradict the health authorities on vaccines or face masks.

In a closing discussion with Vice President J.D. Vance at the Make America Healthy Again Summit, held on September 29 at the Waldorf Astoria in Washington, Secretary of Health Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made AI one of the central themes of his speech. He promised that every American would soon have access to his or her medical records on his or her phone, and that an AI would be able to analyze a thousand-page file in a few moments that a doctor, due to lack of time, would never read.

"The end of 'trust the experts'"

The minister went further by presenting AI as a way to verify, or even contradict, the recommendations of health authorities on masks, social distancing or vaccines, and to free oneself from what he described as "medical tyranny". JD Vance agreed, believing that experts no longer have a monopoly on knowledge.

Earlier in the day, Felipe Millon, head of public sector sales at OpenAI, had said on the same stage that it would be wrong today not to ask for a second opinion from AI. Part of the MAHA base criticized the industrial sponsors of the summit and the place given to AI, which was considered far from the original concerns of the movement.
