Driven by demand for AI, Micron has posted a record sixth consecutive quarter and warns that the supply of DRAM and NAND will remain tighter in 2027–2028 than it is today.
Micron published non-standard results for the fourth quarter of its 2026 fiscal year: $54.2 billion in revenue, up 31 per cent over one quarter and 379% over one year, with a record gross margin close to 87 per cent. Over the entire fiscal year, the memory manufacturer reached $133.2 billion in revenues, an increase of 256 per cent. This is the sixth consecutive quarter of the record.
No relaxation in sight
Managing Director Sanjay Mehrotra said he did not see when the supply and demand for memory could be balanced. According to the company, the situation will be much more tense in 2027 and 2028 than in 2026, with demand in both DRAM and NAND continuing to exceed capacity despite plant extensions, notably for the high bandwidth memory (HBM) of IA accelerators.
For server and PC manufacturers, this means long-term high memory prices: the growth of IA data centres captures a growing share of global production.
