Meta launches Muse Code, its first AI agent dedicated to software development

This command-line tool for macOS and Linux, powered by Muse Spark 1.2, plans, writes and verifies code for large-scale software projects, aiming to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic.

Meta has launched Muse Code, a beta coding agent that can take care of end-to-end software engineering tasks: planning changes, writing code, and verifying results on large codebases. The tool, available on the command line for macOS and Linux, is based on the new Muse Spark 1.2 model.

With this launch, Meta is looking to catch up with OpenAI and Anthropic in the market for AI coding agents, one of the most dynamic segments in the sector. In terms of pricing, Meta offers access to use at $1.25 per million tokens in input and $4.25 in output, as well as a greatly reduced "contributor" tier, more than ten times cheaper than the standard price.
