AMD crosses $1,000 billion in market capitalization, fourth American chipmaker to achieve this

After five sessions of gains and a rise of about 187% since January, AMD joins Nvidia, Broadcom and Micron above a trillion dollars.

On Monday, September 21, 2026, AMD for the first time surpassed the $1,000 billion stock market valuation, following a fifth consecutive session of increase. The title jumped by about 9 per cent in the morning, to a higher neighbour of $616, to close around $613. The company thus became the fourth American semiconductor manufacturer to reach this threshold, after Nvidia, Broadcom and Micron.

The immediate trigger is not a product announcement but a price announcement: information suggesting a 10% increase in certain accelerators and GPUs for AI. The signal is unusual for a challenger, who usually lowers his prices to take market shares. AMD does the opposite, suggesting that the constraint is no longer commercial but physical: buyers pay first to obtain available capabilities.

The increase in the title has been around 187% since the beginning of the year, driven by turnover growth of around 50%. Nevertheless, the gap with the leader remains considerable: Nvidia weighs around $5,400 billion and retains most of the AI chip market for data centres.
