U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Selects Abridge on $775.7 Million Framework Contract

Already deployed in more than 75 medical centers, the Clinical Documentation Assistant provides access to the largest integrated care network in the United States.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has selected Abridge as one of the eligible suppliers for its new framework contract for AI-assisted clinical documentation. It is a multi-award contract, capped at $775.72 million over five years and divided among all eligible providers, who will be able to compete for successive orders — Knowtex is also on the list.

The challenge lies in the scale of the network concerned: more than 9 million veterans followed in 1,380 establishments, including 170 medical centres and nearly 1,200 outpatient sites. Abridge is already in service in more than 75 medical centres at the end of a national pilot, with thousands of clinicians in ambulatory care, general medicine, a dozen medical and surgical specialties, as well as the Clinical Resource Hubs which provide teleconsultation in rural and under-resourced areas.

The solution is validated to produce clinical documentation in more than 28 languages, and must interface with the network's electronic patient records, including legacy systems.
