Microsoft is redesigning Copilot around three entry points: Home, Code and Autopilot

Satya Nadella introduces the biggest update to Copilot to date: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint come into the wizard, and a persistent agent continues to work in the user's absence.

On September 25, 2026, Microsoft unveiled the broadest redesign of Copilot since its launch, presented by Satya Nadella as "a new work operating system". The assistant is now organized around four bricks. Home becomes the single starting point: the Chat and Cowork experiences merge there, and Word, Excel and PowerPoint are integrated directly into the interface rather than juxtaposed with it.

Code allows you to build applications and automations in natural language, hosted in the company's tenant. The building block is based on the same technology as GitHub Copilot, but is explicitly aimed at non-developer profiles who want to produce their own tools without leaving their organization's security perimeter. Autopilot, finally, is described as a persistent and proactive agent, capable of continuing long tasks when the user is not in front of his screen.

The rollout remains gradual: Home and Code are first arriving in Microsoft's Frontier program in the coming weeks, while Autopilot is moving to a private preview at the end of the month. The announced shift is clear — from an AI that attends to an AI to which entire chains of tasks are delegated.
