After three weeks of commissioning, the prototype equipped with four TPUs communicates with the ground. Constraint of energy forces, only one chip can turn, about twenty minutes in a row.
The first prototype satellite, fitted with a TPU, was launched on 1 October. Google has put a figure on the next phase: 370,000 tonnes to be placed into orbit over ten years, at around $200 per kilo.
The system, built on a Transformer architecture, reads about 2,500 sensors to diagnose the status of the spacecraft and trigger maneuvers, without going through ground crews.
